The KENILWORTH AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY was founded on January 28 th 1944 by a large gathering of leading agriculturalists with the objective of promoting, improving and furthering the interests of all branches of agriculture in the district. Its first Annual Show was held in Kenilworth on August 7 th 1944 in the grounds of Thickthorn and subsequently for many years in the Abbey Fields. For the next 20 years the Society held its Show, the main focal point of the year, at the Royal Showground, Stoneleigh as part of the RASE’s Town and Country Festival, which attracted some 115,000 visitors during the 3 days of the August Bank Holiday weekend. Since leaving the Showground there were two years in conjunction with Warwickshire College, Moreton Morrell Open Day and for the last nine years the show has been held near Kenilworth on the first sunday in June.
